Description

Elegantly structured and imbued with Art Deco sophistication, this vintage diamond and sapphire ring is classically refined! Royal blue french cut sapphires provides a rich contrast to the dazzling sparkle of the stunning 1.00 carat Old European cut certified diamond. The high quality F-G SI1 diamond is 100% eye clean and bright white, a rarity in old cut diamonds. The diamond was cut in the early 1900’s and has charming wide facets that return dazzlingly bright sparkle and vivid fire. The stately 18k white gold setting is beautifully embellished with geometric cutouts and intricate filigree. Imbued with the glamour and romance of the Art Deco era, this artfully designed ring is iconic in design, lush in color, and richly historied.

Certified by EGL-USA, the diamond is bright white and received a color grade of F-G. Diamonds from this time period tend to show a touch of warmth, so it is rare to find an Old European cut with such bright white color! The diamond is very strictly graded SI1 for clarity as we felt it was closer to VS2. The material itself is VS2 if the girdle were to polished. Viewed under the loop, from some angles there appears to be a white inclusion near the edge of the diamond; however, this “ ghost inclusion” is actually a reflection of the girdle. The reflection is not visible to the naked eye, and can only be seen under the loupe from certain angles. We believe that EGL-USA’s conservative SI1 clarity grade includes this reflection as an inclusion as it is difficult to find any true inclusions under 10x magnification. This really is closer to VS material. It is very possible that if it was sent for a recheck it would receive a better clarity grade. The setting is made of solid 18k white gold (stamped). It is likely that the sapphires are synthetic, as this was typical for the time period; however, we cannot know for sure without further testing. More importantly, they are original to the ring which has more value than whether they are natural or synthetic. They are truly french cut, finished by hand in the early 1900’s. The ring measures 6.3mm across (north south) and 5.1mm from finger to top.

Completely unique, artfully crafted, and full of history and Art Deco glamour, this stunning vintage ring is an excellent choice for an enduring and meaningful engagement ring or right hand ring!
