An extremely rare find, this masterfully detailed and meaningfully historied vintage ring features a dazzling 1.04ct old European cut diamond flanked by incredibly rare French cut diamonds and custom cut sapphires! Excellent in quality, the GIA certified H VS1 diamond has wide, hand cut facets which dazzle with bold, bright sparkle and vividly colorful fire. The setting is accented with high quality French cut diamonds, a touch that makes this ring an extreme rarity and imbues an air of grace and class. An antique cut, the French cut originated in the 1800s. Some Art Deco jewelry features French cut sapphires, but French cut diamonds are extremely difficult to find. The platinum setting is utterly elegant and impeccably detailed with richly textured hand engraving, fine milgrain, and elegant arched filigree. The effect is a striking air of antique elegance and sophistication! A wearable artifact of the illustrious Art Deco era, this ring is not only stunningly beautiful and glamorously brilliant with a dazzling diamond center, it also provides a meaningful and romantic connection to a past epoch. Certified by GIA, the 1.04ct center diamond received an excellent clarity grade of VS1. Even under 10x magnification it is nearly impossible to find any inclusions! Graded H for color under GIA’s rigorous standards, the diamond faces up bright white. The stone was hand cut in the 1920s-1930s and is a beautiful combination of old European cut and transitional cut. It was cut during a time when diamond cutters were experimenting with bigger tables and shorter crowns. As a result, the measurements appear similar to a modern round, hence GIA’s formula determined it as a round brilliant cut. However, these shortcomings in GIA’s formula do not reflect the fact that this is a truly old diamond with old style faceting, a large culet, flower pattern on the pavilion, and a small crown. For this reason, GIA graded the cut against round brilliant cut standards, and the diamond received a cut grade which does indicate how much sparkle this diamond has! The diamond has a truly outstanding play of light with phenomenal brilliance and fire, much better than GIA’s grade implies (since its being graded against a different cut).. The two French cut and four vintage single cut accent diamonds are also excellent in quality. Graded G-H for color and VS for clarity, they are bright white and completely eye clean. The sapphires are a rich and even royal blue color. It is likely that the sapphires are synthetic, as this was typical for the time period; however, importantly, they are original to the piece and were cut by hand to fit the setting perfectly. The setting is expertly crafted by Art Deco artisans in solid platinum. The ring measures 6.5mm across (north south) and 5.7mm from finger to top. Exceptionally rare, excellent in quality, and crafted with a timelessly elegant and intricately detailed design, this striking beauty is an excellent choice for an enduring and meaningfully historied engagement or right hand ring. Once it has sold we will not be able to replace it.
