Description

An extraordinarily rare find, this original Victorian era pin/pendant is completely unique and utterly elegant! Expertly crafted in the 1800’s, the pin features a substantial natural saltwater pearl accented by 1.14ct of high quality rose and old mine cut diamonds! Natural (not cultured) saltwater pearls are extremely rare, making this pin a particularly special find! Gorgeously designed with a sweeping bow motif, this pin/pendant is full of old world charm and absolutely one of a kind. A gorgeous and rare work of art that carries with it all the pathos of the Victorian era, this pin is imbued with history and longevity, a beautiful and enduring artifact of the past.

The pearl is completely natural in origin and of the saltwater variety. The vast majority of pearls are cultured. Pearls that have formed naturally (such as this one) are extremely rare and valuable! The pearl is white in color with gorgeous luster. The pin features 4 old mine cut diamonds and is fully encrusted with rose cut diamonds. The diamonds total 1.14ct and have a striking impact! Exceptionally rare, old rose cut diamonds have larger diameters for their weights, so they have a much larger impact than their carat weight implies! The diamonds are very high quality. Bright white, they are graded D-G for color. For clarity the vast majority of the diamonds are graded VS with just a couple with lower grades. Overall, these diamonds are exceptionally clean, and there are no visible inclusions! The diamonds are hand cut, making each one charmingly unique. The pin/pendant is made from 14k yellow gold topped with silver. This approach was common at the time and the silver has its gorgeous original antique patina. The piece has a pin back, but it can be converted to be worn as a pendant. Please inquire if you would like to have it converted to a pendant. The pin/pendant measures 34.4mm across and 43.3mm from top to bottom.

Handmade with great care during the Victorian era, this pin/pendant has soaked in more than a century’s worth of life. Whether you are buying for yourself or as a gift, this pin brings with it not only elegant beauty but also meaning and longevity. A rare find like this does not come around often! Once it is sold we certainly will not be able to replace it.
