ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN CEYLON SAPPHIRE DIAMOND PENDANT NECKLACE VINTAGE ROSE CUT BOW
This beautiful Edwardian antique necklace features a vibrant Ceylon sapphire and is adorned with 1.50ct of exceptionally rare rose cut diamonds. Handmade over a century ago with astounding care, the pendant features precise cutouts and fine milgrain. Each cut carefully by hand, the rose cut diamonds catch the light beautifully. The bow motif evokes a sweetly feminine air, while the exacting symmetry and geometric elements bring a chic edge to the dreamy romance. The sapphire has a gorgeous violet blue hue, and it stands out beautifully against the diamonds. Imbued with a century of history, this necklace is not only beautiful but also incredibly rare and completely unique.
The 2.45 carat pear cut sapphire is an even and brightly saturated violet blue. It is an absolutely stunning blue with a beautiful purple overtone. The sapphire has a lively brilliance and gorgeous play of light with exceptional luster. The sapphire was mined in Sri Lanka (Ceylon). Sri Lanka is known to produce sapphires of exceptional quality and is one of the most prized origins in the world for sapphires. While the necklace was made in the early 1900s, the sapphire was added later. The 44 rose cut diamonds are bright white, graded E-G for color. For clarity the diamonds are graded VS1-I1 although most of the stones are VS1. As for the I1 stones, any natural internal characteristics do not jump to the eye and will go unnoticed once the necklace is being worn. In this piece, the diamonds do match well and work together nicely. All of the diamonds are hand cut and exceptionally rare. The pendant is solid silver. This approach was common at the time and creates a beautiful, bright background for the diamonds. The pendant hangs from an 18 inch chain. , The pendant measures 2 inches by 0.9 inch.
